The space
Though the villa still has its classic tiled roof, stone walls and floors and wide hearth, its furnishings bring the villa comfortably into the modern age.
Plump sofas invite you to linger in the two living rooms, the dining table has seating for eight and there’s even a breakfast table in the fully equipped kitchen.
The villa has four bedrooms plus a sofa bed on first floor and two bathrooms with shower.

The surrounding area is really rich in places to visit and explore be it the nearby glorious countryside of Lunigiana and Garfagnana with excellent hiking, the Ligurian coast with the Cinque Terre and Portovenere, or cultural cities of Lucca, Parma and Pietrasanta. For anyone who appreciates traditional and unspoilt Italy then Villa Matilde is ideal as here one can truly capture the spirit of rural Tuscany with some superb dining, enchanting medieval towns and some spectacular scenery.
