An antique village house, surrounded by forested mountains and overlooking the beautiful Lago di Vogorno, this is a little piece of alpine paradise. The house with balcony sleeps 2 people and is an idyllic option for a holiday in the unspoiled Ticinese countryside. The front door from the charming, stone courtyard leads directly into the wooden beamed kitchen/dining room. This cosy room has a dining table in the centre with antique wooden furniture and the kitchen which is equipped with an induction hob, oven, microwave, fridge/freezer and coffee machine. The sitting room is off the kitchen/diner and is furnished with two armchairs and a flat-screen TV. The private courtyard has retained its original stone table, bench and ancient stone basin. It makes an ideal spot for breakfast or an evening drink. Sleeping The upstairs bedroom is furnished with a double bed, armchair and wardrobe. Bathroom The tiled bathroom has a shower, basin, WC and washing machine. As this is a self-catering accommodation, these items are provided in case you forget anything and are kindly provided. Any other products you may need during your stay can be purchased at nearby supermarkets. Location The apartment is in the centre of the ancient village of Vogorno but is private and peaceful, thanks to its stone walls. Vogorno is at the start of the Val Verzasca, formed by the crystal clear Verzasca River. For the brave, a dip in the river is a chilly but bracing experience. Otherwise, there are many stunning hiking and mountain bike trails in the valley. Vogorno might feel a million miles away from the modern world but the city of Locarno is only 20 minutes away. On the shore of Lake Maggiore, visitors to Locarno can enjoy La Dolce Vita, with a Swiss touch. The Thursday market in Piazza Grande combines a farmers market, where you can pick up the best local produce, with stalls selling regional crafts and second-hand clothes, books etc. Bellinzona (30 minutes) is famous for its 3 medieval castles, which make up a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and is a great day trip. If you miss the Locarno market then Bellinzona’s weekly market (Saturday morning) is one of the best in the region. The closest international airport is in Italy, Milan Malpensa is 1 hour 35 minutes away by car. Linate Airport is 1 hour and 50 minutes.
