The Area
Les Arcs sits high above the Tarentaise Valley in the Savoie region of the French Alps, spread across four purpose-built villages: Arc 1600, Arc 1800, Arc 1950 and Arc 2000, each named for its altitude. Together they form part of Paradiski, the linked domain joining Les Arcs and La Plagne through the Vanoise Express cable car. The resort is celebrated for its altitude, which delivers reliable snow cover and long pistes descending to Bourg-Saint-Maurice in the valley below. The pedestrianised, ski-in ski-out layout means most luxury chalets open directly onto the slopes, and the Aiguille Rouge at over 3,200 metres offers commanding views toward Mont Blanc.

Things to Do
Skiing and snowboarding define winter here, with Paradiski offering hundreds of kilometres of linked pistes for every level, plus off-piste itineraries and the Aiguille Rouge descent. Getting There
Les Arcs is among the easiest high alpine resorts to reach. The fastest road and rail approach is via Bourg-Saint-Maurice in the valley, from where a funicular railway climbs directly to Arc 1600 in minutes, allowing car-free arrivals. Eurostar and TGV services, including winter ski trains, connect Bourg-Saint-Maurice with Paris and London. By air, Chambery and Geneva are the closest international airports, with Lyon and Grenoble also within transfer distance.
