The Area and Where to Stay
Combloux sits at around 1,000 metres on a broad, sun-catching shelf between Megève and Saint-Gervais-les-Bains, its baroque church spire framed against the Mont Blanc massif. The village's ecological mountain lake, filtered entirely by plants, is a gentle highlight for families. When to Visit
The ski season runs from December to early April, with February bringing the liveliest atmosphere and the school-holiday crowds; January and March offer quieter pistes and beautiful light on the massif. Summer, from June to September, is Combloux's second high season: warm days, green meadows, open lifts for walkers and the swimming lake in full use. Autumn brings golden larches and crisp, clear views, while late spring is peaceful and flower-filled, though some businesses pause between seasons. Getting There
Geneva Airport (GVA) is the natural gateway, around 70 kilometres away, with the drive taking a little over an hour on the autoroute towards Chamonix before climbing to the village. Lyon (LYS) is an alternative at roughly two hours. By rail, TGV services reach Sallanches-Combloux-Megève station in the valley, ten minutes below the village, with seasonal direct services from Paris. A car is useful for exploring the Pays du Mont-Blanc, though ski buses link Combloux with Megève and the lifts in winter.
