At the foot of the picturesque Matterhorn, the Valaisian village of Zermatt is a true winter sports paradise. Its ski area is one of the highest in Europe, offering 360km of slopes that stretch all the way to the Italian border. Snowy nearly all year round, the ski station also enjoys generous sunlight thanks to its topographical location that shelters it from the wind. The traditional aspect of the village, where one can still find several typical raccards, is preserved by very strict regulations that only authorize, for example, the circulation of electric cars on the land of the town. At the center of this alpine haven of peace, this Chalet is a rare pearl of elegance and luxury, a wooden and refined treasure box and one of the abodes that gives Zermatt its noble reputation. Built on four levels and facing the south-west, it offers splendid views of the Matterhorn from the third floor living room as well as from the five bedrooms that are spread over the first and second floors. The immense living room is a surprising mix of the warmest alpine tradition and contemporary design. Under a roof supported by a magnificent structure reigns a central fireplace that appears to be on a stone and of which the chimney block covered with mirrors reflects the ensemble of the beams. Around this enchanting hearth is a dining table endowed with sumptuous prune-coloured velvet chairs, a kitchen with its stainless steel bar – its wooden façade complete with retro lights – and a comfortable living area with sofas that are covered with thick furs. On the long wall, the outline of the relief is repeated with a simple line, prolonging the splendid horizon that is revealed through the large bay window of the gable. The third floor is dedicated to a large treatment area. In pure lines, mineral textures, it includes a jacuzzi covered with pearly blue mosaics and a sauna with a very elegant glass door. On the lower floors one finds the bedrooms and the suites that all effectively manage the mix of genres with a high level of distinction. King-size beds stretch out under wooden ceilings, a central section with retro lighting and large oak desks run the length of the bedroom. Each of the bedrooms are provided with a spacious and practical bathroom. If it’s with the idea to do some sport, skiing or hiking, or if it’s in a more meditative perspective, mountain lovers will find what they’re looking for in this Chalet, the ideal Zermatt home.
